Our Need Is His Love | Gurbani on True Wealth & Naam Simran

In “sorath dee vaar, Forth Nanak advises us that nothing goes with us, but the love imprinted in our mind for the Creator helps us in the end. Let us ponder over the following stanza on SGGS 648:

15॥Pa-oṛī.

Ḏẖan sampai mā-i-ā sancẖī-ai anṯe ḏukẖ-ḏā-ī .

Gẖar manḏar mahal savārī-ah kicẖẖ sāth na jā-ī.

Har rangī ṯure niṯ pālī-ah kiṯai kām na ā-ī .

Jan lāvhu cẖiṯ har nām si-o anṯ ho-e sakẖā-ī.

Jan Nānak nām ḏẖi-ā-i-ā gurmukẖ sukẖ pā-ī. ||15||

Stanza.

In essence: The mortals gather wealth and other stuff, but in the end, they face pain. They decorated the homes and mansions, but none of these goes with them when they depart from here. They cherish various kinds of horses, but they are of no use at the end; therefore, the Seekers get attached to Ekankar’s name, their support, in the end. Oh Nanak! Those who contemplate His name obtain peace.
